Christmas in Ibiza, a plan for the holidays

The streets are filled with light, Christmas decorations cover the shop windows and the trees take center stage. This is Christmas in Ibiza. A whiter Ibiza with more light than ever.

During this time of year, those who don’t live on the island go meet their friends and family to enjoy a proper Christmas celebration. However, there are also many people who travel to Ibiza to enjoy a different Christmas, where disconnection and relaxing are the big protagonists.

Fleeing the intense cold of other cities and surrounded by the best landscapes, Ibiza in winter is a perfect destination in which to enjoy a getaway during the day and discover a more charismatic side of Ibiza. From Santa Eulalia, you can start a great number of routes and excursions, trips for all levels and tastes that you will enjoy even more during these less hectic months.

But… Despite being far from home, we all like living Christmas up close, which is why many activities offered by the island will become mandatory plans during these days.

Strolling through the various Christmas markets we can find both in the city of Ibiza and in the surrounding villages, contemplating the nativity scenes put together in many shop windows, and even discovering the traditional gastronomy of this time of year are some of the things you can do.

If you are a true lover of these dates and you want to know what it’s really like to be in Ibiza at Christmas you cannot miss this Santa Eulalia tradition: the caramellas, old songs that were sung to announce the birth of Christ. These songs are played by bands called esquadres de caramellers on December 24 at midnight at the Puig de Missa, one of the most iconic places of Santa Eulalia del Río.

Both Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve in Ibiza are celebrated with delicious traditional meals, where the delicious “Christmas Sauce” cannot be missing among the main desserts. Two nights when Ibiza’s magic can make your dreams come true.

At Aguas de Ibiza, your charming 5 star hotel in Santa Eulalia, we wish you happy holidays and hope they are filled with magic, and although we will be closed during these dates you will be able to reserve a stay with us from April onwards. And you, how will you celebrate Christmas?
